
The payment website's online checkout was down due to a "system issue," the company confirmed. Hundreds of people took to the website Downdetector to report issues with the system. PayPal confirmed customers were affected worldwide.
PayPal said: "We are experiencing a system issue that may be affecting PayPal Online Checkout in our production environment. Our technical teams are actively working towards resolving the issue." The company then issued a new update three hours later saying that everything was "resolved". A spokesperson said: "PayPal and Venmo experienced a temporary interruption this morning that has since been resolved."
