Moment chaos erupts in lawless London as 'road rage' drivers fight in the street

A man was caught on camera being chased, tackled and kicked after putting a woman in a headlock as an argument erupted into a violent street brawl in London. Footage shared online showed a driver in a pink T-shirt clashing with three women after stopping his car in the middle of the road. It was posted on X by a London-based user, who described the rapidly escalating scene as "road rage in Edgware Road".

The man was filmed squaring up to the group of women, as traffic built up and cars honked their horns behind him. The altercation then quickly became physical, with one woman appearing to point a metal object at his face. She shouted: "That's my mum, that's my mum... I'm gonna kill you". The man then tried to climb back into his vehicle, before jumping back out after the women blocked him from shutting the door. He then appeared to wrestle one of them into a headlock before pushing her away.

The driver was then filmed running off to a nearby street, with another man - presumably a member of the group - hot on his heels, before dramatically tripping and falling mid-chase.

After regaining his balance, the chaser appeared to grab the driver and pull him to the ground, before kicks were delivered by one of the women.

Passersby could be seen trying to break up the street brawl, apparently to no avail. It was not clear what exactly sparked the altercation.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at 20:34pm on Sunday, August 10, to reports of an altercation and damage to a car on Station Road, Edgware.

"Officers attended and found a man, aged 29, with head injuries. He was taken to hospital by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

"There have been no arrests at this stage, and enquiries are ongoing."

Overall crime in London increased by 31.5% in the last decade, according to official crime data, with violent crime rising by 40%.

However, London mayor Sadiq Khan said this week that City Hall data showed a 19% drop in knife crime in the capital between April and June this year, compared to the same period in 2024.

The new figures, which have not been publicly released, appear to show a 13% drop in theft and robbery of personal property, alongside a 10% drop in residential burglary.

"The latest figures show robbery, theft, residential burglary and knife crime are down in London, but there's still a long way to go before I'm satisfied," Mr Khan said, as per the BBC.

"Backed with record funding from City Hall, the Met is putting high-visibility policing at the heart of fighting crime."
