Hollywood star addresses Celebrity Traitors' controversial Judi Dench scene

A massive Hollywood celebrity has addressed last night's The Celebrity Traitors moment that left BBC audiences gobsmacked.

During Wednesday's (October 22) instalment, presenter Claudia Winkleman unveiled a fresh challenge for the remaining Traitors and Faithfuls.

With thousands of pounds at stake, the celebrity participants faced questions about their eliminated and banished fellow stars. Each query came with multiple choice responses, all linked to individual traps.

To wager on a response, contestants had to step into the trap clutching bags of cash, reports the Daily Record.

Correct answers would boost the final prize fund whilst granting that player protection from the next elimination.

The opening question netted the group £1,500, but home viewers were left stunned when the second query appeared.

Claudia posed: "Which of these actors has Tameka Empson appeared in a film with?" The potential responses featured Helen Mirren, Vinnie Jones, Dame Judi Dench or Rebel Wilson.

The challenge sparked vocalist Cat Burns to enquire: "Who's Helen Mirren?" She then confessed: "Apart from Rebel Wilson, I couldn't tell you who any of those people were."

In a shocking twist, actress Rebel caught wind of the episode and swiftly reacted.

Posting to her Instagram story, the Pitch Perfect icon shared footage from The Celebrity Traitors.

Amazed by her name's appearance, she exclaimed: "What?!"

As Cat admitted she didn't recognise the other names, Rebel beamed: "Thanks, Cat!"

The Australian star, best known for her roles in popular comedies such as Bridesmaids and How to Be Single, has never collaborated with Tameka.

Claudia later disclosed that Tameka had a role in the thriller Notes on a Scandal alongside Dame Judi, whom the contestants had wagered £1,000 on.

Rebel was delighted to be part of the contest, but Cat's fans took to social media in shock.

One TikTok user jested: "How dare you not know Judi Dench and Helen Mirren?" While another queried: "Girl please tell me you were joking when you said you don't know who Helen Mirren is."

Another disgruntled fan wrote: "Girl I'm loving you on The Traitors...BUT how do you not know who Helen Mirren, JUDI DENCH, and Vinnie Jones are!?"

On X, previously known as Twitter, another BBC viewer commented: "Cat not knowing who Helen Mirren is nearly made me faint #CelebrityTraitors."

Finally, one fan expressed: "Cat not knowing who Judi Dench, Helen Mirren and Vinnie Jones are is the most sinful thing to have ever occurred in this show."
