Operation Sindoor Exposes Jaish-e-Mohammed's New Tactics: Women Being Targeted for Recruitment and Propaganda

Efforts to destabilize India from across the border continue, but Operation Sindoor — India’s decisive response to the Pahalgam terror attack — has dealt a severe blow to Pakistan-based terror networks. In the aftermath, intelligence sources reveal that the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) is adopting new tactics to sustain its operations by exploiting women through a specially formed brigade named Jamaat al-Muminat.

According to intelligence reports, Jamaat al-Muminat has been active since 2024 and functions as the women’s wing of JeM. The group is engaged in psychological warfare, online propaganda, and ground-level recruitment. It uses social media platforms, WhatsApp groups, and certain madrasa networks to radicalize women in the name of religion.

Educated Women Targeted through Emotional Messaging
Sources suggest that the terror group’s recent communication includes religious imagery of Mecca and Medina, coupled with emotional messages aimed particularly at educated and urban Muslim women. The objective is to emotionally influence and recruit women into JeM’s network to serve the organization’s strategic and propaganda goals.

Intelligence agencies have found that Jamaat al-Muminat operates through a decentralized cell-based structure similar to Jaish’s main organization. Each small cell is responsible for recruitment, funding, and spreading extremist messages. Evidence has also surfaced linking the group directly to handlers in Pakistan.

India’s Counter-Offensive Under Operation Sindoor
Following the Pahalgam terror attack, India launched Operation Sindoor in May to target terror infrastructure within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). During this operation, several Jaish hideouts were destroyed, including its key headquarters. The strike reportedly eliminated the brother of JeM chief Masood Azhar and multiple senior operatives, crippling the group’s core network.

Experts believe that Jaish’s renewed attempt to manipulate women stems from frustration and desperation after heavy losses inflicted by Indian forces. The shift in strategy shows that India’s counter-terror operations have significantly weakened these groups.
