Strictly Come Dancing fans make same complaint minutes into Movie Week madness

Send Push

The celebs and pros hit the dance floor for Strictly Come Dancing's Movie Week tonight, as the show welcomed the first themed extravaganza of this year's series.

This year, for the first time ever, the show welcomed a special guest to Movie Night tonight, as Wicked icon Cynthia Erivo, who stars as Elphaba in the film, joins as the show's first ever guest mentor.

At the start, fans saw the professionals dance along to Wicked's As Long as You’re Mine - but fans were left disappointed when Cynthia wasn't singing despite being a guest mentor on the show.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: "Already a missed opportunity to have Cynthia sing for this group performance. Would've been fire," while a second wrote: "Why are the strictly singers allowed to murder this when they literally have Cynthia Erivo in #Strictly."

"The singers butchering wicked in front of THE cynthia #Strictly!" another disappointed fan said.

Others were left confused by the entrance they gave the Wicked star, as they compared it to ITV's X Factor. One penned: "what was that intro for Cynthia?? it's giving X Factor icl #strictly," while another penned: "Lord not the X Factor introduction for Cynthia Erivo!"

"Cynthia erivo intro with the x factor font? saturday night tv multiverse of madness #Strictly," another wrote.

Tonight, the dancers will be dancing to some of the most iconic movies, with Alex Kingston and Johannes Radebe dancing the Quickstep to Suddenly I See from The Devil Wears Prada, Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon dancing to Foxtrot to The Way You Look Tonight from Swing Time and Chris Robshaw and Nadiya Bychkova - Paso Doble to Sweet Child O'Mine from Thor: Love and Thunder.

However, there's one celebrity who won't be taking part in the show, as it was announced yesterday that Stefan Dennis had pulled out of the live show due to illness.

"Due to illness over the past few days, Stefan Dennis has been advised by doctors to rest and , as a result, he will not dance this weekend.

"In lines with the rules of Strictly, Stefan and Dianne will receive a bye through to next week when they will hopefully be able to dance again."

Commenting on the post, Stefan's dance partner Dianne Buswell, who is expecting her first baby with partner Joe Sugg, commented: "Sending all my Aussie love steffo. I know how much you wanted to dance!"
