Released in 2000, the thriller follows Leonard (played by Guy Pearce), a man who is on the hunt for his wife's murderer.
However, the mission is almost impossible because Leonard suffers from a rare form of amnesia.
While he can remember his life before the accident that triggered his condition, the main character cannot make new memories.
The condition forces him to use photographs, notes and tattoos to keep track of his investigation.
Through this seemingly simple plot, Nolan explores hefty themes such as identity, vengeance and trauma.
Pearce takes on the leading role, with support from Hollywood icons Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix) and Joe Pantoliano (The Goonies).
Considering this crew's talent, it's no surprise Memento was a major hit. The drama earned two Academy Award nominations for Best Original Screenplay and Best Film Editing.
It also scored an impressive 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, with audiences on the movie-rating website echoing the critics' rating.
One critic gushed about the Nolan flick, stating: "Memento is a movie that definitely earns the distinction of being termed unforgettable."

Casual moviegoers were equally impressed, with one gushing: "Perfection. Unparalleled originality. Far and away Nolan’s best feat, and laid the groundwork for subsequent films."
A second raved: "Every now and then a movie gets made where you feel like it is the first to market with a concept and near perfect in creation. This is one of them."
IMDb viewers have also shared glowing reviews for the decades-old film. One simply wrote: "Genius thriller."
While someone else said: "It plays with your mind so well you walk away and contemplate on it forever. Great movie, one of Nolan's best ever."
And a final viewer confessed they could not predict the film's hidden twist. "I guessed and guessed... I never got close," they wrote.
