Narmadapuram (Madhya Pradesh): More than 54,000 people have been screened under the Prime Minister’s TB-free India campaign in the district, official sources said.
A target has been fixed for checking 3.06 lakh people under the campaign. TB-screening staff, CHOs, ANMs, and Asha workers have so far examined 54,986 people.
TB screening work is underway in all development blocks of Narmadapuram under the campaign. Ten TB patients were given fruit baskets under the guidance of chief medical and health officer, Dr Narsingh Gehlot.
TB screening camps have been held in central jail, student hostels, Rain Baseras, and slum areas.
The administration has so far made 158 Nikshay Mitras (those who fight against TB), and they are distributing food baskets among the patients.

Collector Sonia Meena and Dr Gehlot appealed to those who are above 60 years old and are addicted to smoking to get checked up.
Similarly, those whose body mass index (BMI) is less than 18 and who are prone to coughs and colds should also visit nearby health centres to get examined, the collector and CMHO said.
District TB officer Dr Sanjay Purohit, DPC Vishesh Dubey, and others were present at the function where food baskets were distributed among TB patients.
