At a public event in Mumbai on Friday, actor Akshay Kumar urged the Maharashtra Chief Minister to institute a weekly cyber period for students in grades 7 to 10. The actor cited an incident involving his daughter to highlight the growing threat of cybercrime. He said that cybercrime has become increasingly rampant, and that awareness of it must be raised in schools to combat it.

Akshay made this revelation.
During the inaugural ceremony of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 at the state police headquarters, Akshay Kumar shared a shocking incident involving his daughter to highlight this threat. Akshay said, "I want to tell you all a small incident that happened at my house a few months ago. My daughter was playing video games, and there are some video games that you can play with anyone. While you're playing, sometimes a message comes in. She received a message asking, 'Are you a man or a woman?' She replied to a woman, and then the person asked, 'Can you send me your nude pictures?'" My daughter immediately closed the game and went to tell my wife. This is how things start. This is also a part of cybercrime. This incident has become a lesson for us.
Kumar appeals to the Chief Minister.
Kumar stressed that there is a great need to educate children about how to protect themselves from online criminals and threats. His appeal for a cybercrime period in schools is to teach the new generation the essential things to stay safe in the digital world. "I would request the Chief Minister to have a cybercrime period every week in the seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth grades in our state of Maharashtra to create awareness about cybercrime."
Akshay is currently seen in "Jolly LLB 3," which stars Arshad Warsi, Huma Qureshi, Amrita Rao, Saurabh Shukla, Gajendra Rao, Ram Kapoor, and others. He is also shooting for director Priyadarshan's action-thriller "Haiwaan," which stars Saif Ali Khan and Saiyami Kher.
