From the moment Saiyaara hit theatres on Friday, it carved its name into Bollywood history. According to leading box office analytics platform Sacnilk, the debut vehicle for Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda garnered a remarkable Rs 20 crore on its first day in cinemas. This tremendous debut not only became the biggest opening-day figure for any film starring newcomers but also outperformed several notable recent releases.

For comparison, Aamir Khan’s home production Sitaare Zameen Par brought in Rs 10.7 crore on its first day, while Akshay Kumar’s patriotic action film Sky Force, despite a release aligned with a festive weekend, managed Rs 12.25 crore. By surpassing both, Saiyaara has positioned itself as the most successful debutant-driven film launch in recent memory.

Record-Breaking Occupancy And Collections

The Hindi-language drama recorded a strong 44.33% occupancy across theatres nationwide on its release day, as per data collected by Sacnilk. This statistic further confirms its high engagement levels with audiences, especially in metropolitan areas.

The milestone it achieved surpasses the opening-day performance of Dhadak—the 2018 romantic drama that introduced Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter to the big screen. Dhadak collected ₹8.76 crore on its release day, a record that remained unchallenged until now.

Dominating Pre-Sales And Advance Bookings

Saiyaara didn’t just dominate on the day of release—it also set new benchmarks in the run-up to its debut. In terms of advance ticket sales, the film broke fresh ground for a debutant-led project in India.

Trade data aggregator Sacnik.com reports that Saiyaara sold over 45,000 tickets across leading cinema chains—PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis—within the first 24 hours of pre-sales alone. On release day, the total count jumped to 195,000 tickets sold at these chains, narrowly trailing behind Vicky Kaushal’s epic saga Chhaava, which registered 225,000 tickets.

Nationally, including both multiplexes and single-screen venues, Saiyaara moved an astounding 380,000 tickets in advance. This made it the second most pre-booked film of 2025, just behind Chhaava, according to Sacnik.

A Rare Debutant Phenomenon

What heightens the significance of Saiyaara’s box office domination is the fact that it stars two fresh faces in the lead roles. Such commercial reception for a project with no established marquee names is rare, making the film a standout phenomenon.

In terms of monetary collections from advance bookings alone, Saiyaara earned Rs 9.40 crore, making it the third-highest Bollywood film of 2025 so far. Only Chhaava (Rs 13.80 crore) and Sikandar (Rs 10.10 crore) have performed better in this segment.

Behind the Film: A Tale of Music and Emotion

Directed by Mohit Suri, known for helming intense romantic dramas, Saiyaara is produced by Akshaye Widhani, the CEO of Yash Raj Films (YRF). The narrative centers on two individuals from vastly different social backgrounds who discover a shared passion for music. As they draw closer, they are forced to confront the complexities of love, age, and fate.

With its emotional core and magnetic soundtrack, Saiyaara seems poised to continue its winning streak at the box office and in the hearts of viewers.
