New Delhi [India], October 31 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday wished for Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut's "speedy recovery and good health," after he announced that he is undergoing treatment amid health deterioration.
In an X post, PM Modi wrote, "Praying for your speedy recovery and good health, Sanjay Raut Ji."
Raut also expressed gratitude for PM Modi's wishes.
"Respected Prime Minister Ji, thank you! My family is grateful to you! Jai Hind Jai Maharashtra," the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader wrote on X.
This comes after Raut shared a note on social media for his party workers and supporters, stating that he will return to the political arena after the New Year, as he is undergoing medical treatment.
As per his note, the Shiv Sena (UBT) MP has been advised not to mingle with the crowd.
He wrote, "You all have always believed in me and loved me, but now, suddenly, some serious deterioration has come to light in my health. Treatment is underway, and I will come out of this soon. As per medical advice, I have been restricted from going out and mixing with crowds. There is no way around it."
"I am sure that I will recover well and come to meet you in the new year. May your love and blessings remain the same," the note added.
Raut's unavailability is a huge blow to Shiv Sena (UBT) ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections likely to be held later this year.
Meanwhile, Congress MLC Bhai Jagtap had said that the party should contest the upcoming civic polls independently of an alliance.
While Congress is part of the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) with the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP), Bhai Jagtap expressed his desire for the party to contest the civic polls independently.
He also stated that the final call will be taken by the party's high command.
The Congress leader told reporters, "I said we should contest alone. I'm not the only one saying this; our Political Affairs Committee also says that this is a fight between the workers (of several parties), and Congress should fight alone. We have presented our views to the top leadership. In Congress, whatever the high command says is paramount."
Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) will be contesting the poll in an alliance, bringing brothers Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray together. (ANI)
