Viktor Gyokeres could finally be an Arsenal player by the end of the weekend after the Gunners reached an agreement with Sporting CP for the transfer of the striker.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Emirates Stadium for a number of weeks and failed to turn up to pre-season training with the Portuguese side as talks rumbled on in the background. Now, though, it seems a resolution is near as Arsenal have reached a full agreement with Sporting for Gyokeres.
football.london reported earlier this week that the Gunners will pay an initial €63.5million (£55million) plus €10million (£8.7million) in add-ons, although the structure of how those add-ons were to be paid was the stumbling block. An agreement has now been reached, though, and Gyokereshas been given permission to travel by Sporting, according to The Athletic.

The prolific striker is expected to undergo his medical on Saturday. According to the report, Gyokeres will wear the No.14 shirt during his time in north London.
The Arsenal squad are currently in Singapore on their pre-season tour of Asia. Mikel Arteta's squad will face Newcastle United on Sunday but the game will likely come too soon for Gyokeres.
The Swede could make his debut for the Gunners against north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, however. Failing that, Arsenal are scheduled to play Villarreal and Athletic Club at Emirates Stadium before the Premier League opener against Manchester United on August 17.
Andrea Berta's main priority this summer was to secure the signing of a new No.9 and the Italian now appears to have finally got his man. Gyokeres scored 54 goals in 52 appearances for Sporting last season and in recent years has proven to be one of the most clinical finishers in Europe.
