Gyokeres, Odegaard, Havertz - Arsenal injury news and return dates ahead of Tottenham

Send Push

Mikel Arteta was missing a number of key players for Arsenal's 2-2 stalemate with Sunderland AFC on Saturday, which potentially proved costly.

The Gunners headed to the Stadium of Light as favourites, despite the Black Cats being unbeaten on home soil so far in the current campaign. However, Arsenal returned to the capital with just one point as opposed to all three, thanks to Brian Brobbey's dramatic late equaliser for the hosts.

Thankfully, the Premier League leaders have a two-week pause to capitalise on as the November international break gets underway, giving Arsenal ample time to rest and recover ahead of the North London Derby, which lands on Sunday, November 23 at the Emirates Stadium.

Here, football.london takes a look at the Gunners' injury list at present, and how long key players like Viktor Gyokeres, Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard are expected to remain out of action...

Viktor Gyokeres

On top of missing Arsenal's game against Sunderland, Gyokeres was also absent from his side's midweek Champions League clash with Slavia Prague as a result of a muscular injury sustained against Burnley. When asked ahead of the Sunderland match on an update on all of Arsenal's injuries, Arteta replied: "Some of them, all of them I don't know.

"There are a lot of things that have to happen in the next two weeks, and everything has to be perfect, but I think we'll be very close with most of them to be in a really strong position."

Predicted return date: Late November

Martin Odegaard

The Arsenal skipper had only just recovered from a shoulder injury when he was subbed off against West Ham with a knee issue last month, and he is yet to return. As it stands, he has played just 204 minutes of Premier League football this season.

Predicted return date: Late November

Kai Havertz

Havertz, meanwhile, has played even less league football than Odegaard, with the German national featuring for just 30 minutes during Arsenal's campaign opener with Manchester United. During the game, he suffered a knee injury that required minor surgery, with Arteta recently explaining that he will need to be monitored before he's ready to return.

Speaking last week about Havertz, Arteta said: "Let’s see how he absorbs the load first when he starts to train with us, and when he’s done that, obviously we’re going to have to, especially in the first few weeks, keep an eye on him to manage the amount of minutes and when we play him."

Predicted return date: Early December

Gabriel Martinelli

Martinelli has missed Arsenal's last four matches as a result of sustaining a knock against Crystal Palace in October, and didn't even make the bench against Sunderland. However, he could be fit to compete once again when the international break is over.

Predicted return date: Late November

Noni Madueke

Despite showing a wealth of potential since making the move from Stamford Bridge, Madueke has missed practically two months of football as a result of a knee injury sustained in September.

Predicted return date: Late November

Gabriel Jesus

Jesus is still recovering from a cruciate ligament injury he endured during Arsenal's FA Cup clash with Manchester United in January, and despite returning to training, he remains a little while away from selection as it stands.

Speaking about the striker last week, Arteta said: "It's about making the steps day-by-day in a different surrounding. He's been doing everything on his own; now he's got very competitive players around him, and let's see how he copes with that. But he's full of energy."

Predicted return date: Mid-December
